When I found out I was pregnant with Lydia, one of the things that I looked forward to most about her arrival was story time. I would read books from my childhood to her when she was still in my tummy. Now that she is one and interacts with the stories more, I was so excited to bring some Halloween books for kids to our house to get us into the spooky spirit!

While I was shopping for these books, my mom and I talked about holiday themed children’s books and the lack of options she had to choose from when my sister and I were kids. I love holiday themed books. Nothing gets me into the spirit more than books and movies that reinforce a holiday. The plus side is I can now enjoy them with Lydia.

So once October rolled around, I couldn’t wait to bust some of these Halloween books out. Lydia hides from the monsters in I’m Not Afraid of the DarkΒ and says, “get chew, get chew!” while we read – the best ever. Β She is also picking up on new Halloween objects and words from B is for BooΒ while learning the alphabet! Some of my favorite books of Lydia’s are made by Baby Lit, so I was happy to see they made a couple Halloween themed books! Another than actually reading, it’s fun to see if Lydia can find things on the pages, and she loves to find the little ghosts in No Such Thing.

So, here is a list of “spooky” books we are enjoying this Halloween. They aren’t too spooky, but they will definitely get you into the spirit for Halloween! Which is importnant because no one at the Perez house can do realΒ spooky. Eric and I are pretty much limited to Hocus Pocus and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. We’ll leave the Jason and Michael movies for you die hard folks to enjoy!
